last night i dreamt of amy sedaris and miranda july
It was a nice dream. Jacob bought me the MJ book of short stories and I was reading it a little before bed, right after I came across this hilariously wonderful picture of Ms. Sedaris. In my dream we were talking about how Bust Magazine used to be so zeitgeisty and cool and no longer is, and whether we changed, or they did, or both, or what.
While I’m on the subject, I would like to defend the ridiculous website go fug yourself, from whence said Amy Sedaris picture was found. For one thing, the women who run it are great writers! But I really read it because 90% of the time the outfits they hate the most I would unhesitatingly wear. I thus find myself in the funny position of browsing a website designed to ridicule celebrity outfits with the express purpose of getting outfit ideas.
Anyway! Lots of New Yorker stats coming at you ASAP, but first I wanted to shamelessly promote a few fun events this week for you New Paltzians:
First note that Jacob and I both have letters to the editor in this week’s New Paltz Times (scroll down…).
Also, this Friday the 12th there will be a super fun party in New Paltz called Margaritas for Margaret. The food will be catered by me and I’m planning some delicious bites, as well as truffles! Please email me (lagusta at lagusta .com) if you’d like more information or to RSVP.
And finally, I will be giving a cooking demonstration on how to make delicious cole slaw with almond mayonnaise and farm-fresh veggies at the Harvest Farm Festival at Phillies Bridge Farm on Saturday, October 13 from around noon-1 PM. I will be making a basic dairy- and soy-free mayo that can be used on classic cole slaw as well as many variations on the theme, including how to to turn the dressing into a great all-purpose salad dressing, cole slaw variations such as Southeast Asian cole slaw, Mexican cole slaw, cole slaw without cabbage, and more. I hope to see you there!
